Why Fairy Tales ?

Why are young girls taught to dream about a knight in the shining armour..riding a beautiful white horse.. who will come your way and pick you up to take you to the world of joy and wonder.. one who loves you unconditionally.. for who you are? There are innumerable movies based on that idea.. and many many cultural references to it.. Why do love stories always end up as "happily ever after.." ? Does it really happen in life ?

I guess by now you must be thinking that I am in a considerably bad mood today.. Ok.. before you go on assuming what must have happenned etc., ..Let me warn you nothing exciting really.. Sorry to be a spoil-sport but all I did was watch a movie.. where the heroine's friend offers some practical advice(to the heroine) about choosing the life partner ..and how it works for the Indian girls. And I had to shed some more light on the topic.. may be..intended for all those dreamers..to wake up and be practical.. On the same topic, I picked up this quote somewhere.. Ideal soul-mates do exist in an ideal world... but to search for the ideal in the real world.. means you are not dealing with your life in an ideal manner.. So, nothing or no one is ever perfect. Try to accept that, and work with the differences and who knows.. your life might infact turn into a wonderful dream like saga..of love...

Without the dreams and outrageous fantasies of our forefathers, humankind wouldnt have advanced so much..
If you dont dream abt something, u would never ever be able to do it. On the otherhand if you persevere u may fulfill your dream.. and there can be no better feeling. I have felt it only a few times in my life but those moments are priceless.

btw - i'm tryin to dream europe these days ;-)
