Language and Accent

Is there a right or wrong accent ? What you are used to is what sounds good ? or is it something else ? Do you decide not to talk to someone because you dont understand their accent and so, cant really communicate well with them ? or do you figure where they come from and are not interested anymore ? Lets consider the English language. American or British ?

No right and wrong accent. Guess you knew that already :) But, there definitely is nice and not-so-nice accent. That which enhances the beauty of a language and that with doesnt. (Tons of jokes in English that sound funny only in Indian English :) ) But, as with most things, beauty lies in the eyes of the beer-holder :)

for me all accents are good! :) I tend to adapt to the other person's accent involuntarily. It happens with my european friends. A weekend with them and i get back to work and folks ask me > dude! whats up with ur english..

btw i just love accents. I can proudly speak all accents of telugu except for rayalaseema, where i've never lived. Used to be same with Southerner accent when I was in SC.
Bottom-line: No accent. No fun.
